In Vigolo Vattaro, you can visit the birthplace of Saint Paolina, who was born Amabile Visintainer in 1865.
She was only twelve when she emigrated to Brazil, where she died in 1942.
She founded the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Brazil, and also devoted her entire life to caring for the needy in the community of Vigolo, near Nova Trento.
In 1895, when she took her vows, she assumed the name of Sister Paolina.
It was with this name that she was canonized and beatified in 1991 and sanctified in 2001 by Pope John Paul II.
Her work is being continued by the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, which has over six hundred members.
