Situated at 724 m a.s.l., Vigolo Vattaro has ancient origins that are evidenced by the Roman road which was build to connect the Valsugana with the Adige valley.
Because of its strategic position between Vigolana and Marzola mountains, the town was the object of regular conflicts. Vigolo Castle, a defensive emplacement, dates back to the Renaissance.
The highly picturesque upper area of the town features antique buildings that follow the irregular topography, thus creating narrow streets and charming views.Massive doors in stone, balconies and climbing vines add life and color to the houses, which still have yesterday’s architecture, but are blended into modern setting.
