02.06.2016 - DELTA INTEGRALE. At least once in a lifetime we should concede ourselves the thrill of getting in a car that makes our head spin. We’re talking about the white bolide in front of us: the Lancia Delta Integrale available for this particular test drive, a wild beast and true 90s legend. Characterized by the seductive Martini Racing team, it is the seventh of a total of 310 units produced. A limited edition model, reminiscent of the sixth World Rally Championship won by the prestigious Turin brand. Coming off the assembly line in 1992 and to this day in perfect conditions, it is a coveted jewel by collectors.
On the rounded bonnet, distinctive of the so-called “deltone”, in addition to the above mentioned decals, we notice immediately the signature of multiple champion Miki Biasion. With a lot of emotions we open the doors and sit in the nice Recaro seats. Momo steering wheel and instrumentation are exquisitely in a racing look. Once in motion we feel the clatter of 210 hp thoroughbreds stowed in the engine block. 2000 cubic cm, 16 valves and two camshafts complement the engine.
Obedient as a Geisha, this HF on steroids follows any trajectory with an amazing grip thanks to the four-wheel drive viscous coupling. Pressing the gas pedal it accelerates from zero to 100 in just 5 seconds, while the Garret turbocharger hisses like a rattlesnake. To stop it from the 220 km/h maximum speed that it can reach, the lethal Brembo brakes take you to a halt. Giorgetto Giugiaro designed it, perhaps not realising that he created another masterpiece.
