The lights within the darkness compose ephemeral figures that come and go while the cold of the night reminds you that you exist.
Ciaspomagna is an event that celebrates the magic of the mountain in winter, where sport, nature, and fun come together in a unique experience.
The Ciaspomagna Cimbra is an event held every year on Alpe Cimbra, one of the main ski and tourist areas located in Trentino, Italy. It is a manifestation that combines two characteristic elements of the winter mountain: snowshoes and the typical cuisine of Alpe Cimbra (hence the name "Ciaspomagna"). 7 km of history, culture, traditions, and good food in a fairy-tale atmosphere.
Imagine being enveloped in a soothing silence, where the only sound breaking the tranquility is the crunch of snow beneath your feet. With snowshoes on your feet, you advance slowly but surely through a dreamy winter landscape: a blanket of immaculate snow covers everything, while the moon filtering through the trees makes every snow crystal sparkle, as if the world is wrapped in a shining cover of pure magic. Alpe Cimbra, with its gentle mountains and hidden valleys, welcomes you with its timeless beauty. The air is fresh and crisp, filling your lungs and recharging every cell in your body. Each step brings you closer to a destination that is not only physical but also emotional: a cozy refuge where warmth envelops you, waiting for a feast for the palate. Plate after plate, the flavors of Cimbra tradition captivate you. The mountain cuisine, made of simple yet authentic ingredients, tells you a story of toil, passion, and love for the land. The aroma of speck, polenta, local cheeses, and carefully prepared dishes fills you with satisfaction and makes you feel part of something greater, a deep bond with nature and with the people who have lived in and preserved these places for generations.
The Ciaspomagna Cimbra is not just a hike; it is a sensory journey that completely involves you. Every step on the snow brings you closer to an authentic connection with the mountain, its pristine nature, and the warm hospitality that makes you feel at home. On this day, time seems to slow down; every moment is a memory that will remain in your heart.
Program:
The journey begins at Malga Millegrobbe in the land of the last remaining Cimbri, with a good glass of Trento DOC accompanied by potato polenta and a look at the waning moon, and then off we go with our phones on and headlamps illuminating the path. We ascend silently towards the trenches, where we are gently touched by the breeze, and from here we reach the suggestive Malga Millegrobbe di Sopra, where a warm plate of Trentino barley risotto awaits. We continue our march in the “Tannebalt”: it’s a long procession, with the fire lit in safe spots guiding the way, and illuminated by the moon, we reach the Baita del Neff on Monte Virgo Maria. Here, the sound of accordions accompanies a delicious dish of goulash, polenta, and sauerkraut. The last stretch, embraced by the silence of the forest, takes us back to Malga Millegrobbe, where we conclude with the inevitable Cimbra cake made with dwarf pine and a steaming cup of apple and cinnamon tea.
